My Jordan
The air filled of smoke and tension in the bar, as Tom and Gatsby stood facing each other, drinks in hand, with the rivalry between them boiling over into a drinking competition for my love. I watched them both posing like peacocks and an overwhelming sense of exhaustion washed over me. "they’re both lowkey hella ugly" I said to myself. Tom took another shot, his stupid laughter booming. Gatsby was trying too hard to be charming.
They saw me as a prize to be taken home. All those sights and sounds of masculinity put me to sleep. I slipped away, my heart racing with the thought of a far more genuine evening. Outside, the cool night air felt free. Waiting by my car was Jordan with a comforting smile on her face.
"Where to?" she asked her eyes gleaming mischievously.
“Mini golf?" I suggested, and a thrill sparked within me. We went on to spend the night laughing at accidental touches of hands as we putt. With Jordan, the world lightened up. The competition faded into nonexistence as all that mattered anymore was Jordan.
Life went on with Gatsby's over the top parties and Tom's never-ending ego. I found myself continuously going back to Jordan, and our bond grew much tighter. The two men were too much for me the excessive Gatsby, and the arrogant Tom. truly all I wanted was real connection, and neither man was ever going to give such things to me.
Later after the chaos with Gatsby’s death I found myself more mentally clear than ever. I turned to Jordan standing beside me, her presence calming as always in a world in filled with turmoil. "let's get engaged" I whispered and she smiled. “Yeah screw Nick, I’ll tell him I got engaged to someone and leave him” with these words, we forged a new path, a path of true affection.

Aarush this fanfic blog was unique and cool in the perspective of Daisys. Daisy not falling for neither Gatsby and Tom but instead Jordan was shocking. Daisy's realization of her value and her switch from men to women was also interesting
ReplyDeleteI like how you used a similar tone as to what Fitzgerald used in The Great Gatsby. Including "they’re both lowkey hella ugly" was an interesting contrast to the serious tone as well. I also liked how you continued Daisy's story after Gatsby's death a little bit, revealing what events may have happened that we don't know about.
ReplyDeleteI like how you wrote about how daisy didnt fall for either of the guys but fell for Jordan which was a wild car. I also liked the informal tone that you had throughout the story.
ReplyDeleteI like how you incorpated your own use of slang to give the text more voice and humor. It was a unique, but probably impossible, reality of Daisyis thought process, so building your fan-fic around that was really cool.
ReplyDeleteI liked how your blog was seemingly influenced by our examination of other perspectives of interpretation for the relationships throughout the book. This showed Daisy knew her worth and didn’t conform to being a “fool” like she wished for her daughter.
ReplyDeleteI liked how your blog was a stream of conscious words and sentences. Your style and diction is so unique and admiring. I found the blog to be very funny and engaging but thought the ending was so cliche.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really interesting stance on the relationship between Daisy and Jordan. I like how you allude to Jordan breaking up with Nick, tying it to her getting engaged with daisy and I Found that to be quite interesting
ReplyDeleteWow Aarush, this fanfic was just awesome, i enjoyed how unique your perspective was, i don’t think anyone else explored Daisy’s perspective, this post enlightened me on Daisy’s pov throughout the story.
